Working with technology partners to connect people and things

Customers use our smart IoT services for real-time tracking and monitoring of everything from high-value cargo to people with chronic health conditions. These services are made possible by a combination of advanced tracking, energy-efficient devices and cellular connectivity.

One key communications solution provider is Telenor Connexion. Telenor delivers the cellular IoT connectivity management services, SIMs and global roaming agreements with local operators — providing the potential for global connectivity and device management upon which our smart, connected services rely. Telenor Connexion has just released the 2020 edition of their ‘Connectivity Technologies for IoT’-report, produced in collaboration with Accenture. Visilion – proving the true value of cellular connectivity

Visilion, our advanced tracking solution for logistics and healthcare, employs sensors to enable real-time positioning of any connected item, such as high-value goods in transit or shared equipment in a healthcare facility.

Thanks to a range of cellular connectivity technologies from 2G to 4G and NB-IoT to Cat-M1, objects can be tracked everywhere. Visilion can even switch between indoor and outdoor tracking with data and updates from cloud-based services. Location accuracy and precision are determined by the quality of the network signal and coverage.

Besides the immediate benefits of asset tracking and supply chain visibility, data collected in the Visilion back-end solution can be transformed into actionable insights to support the customers’ long-term strategy and planning.

mSafety – remote monitoring of people at risk

Combining a secure device management platform with a low-complexity, user-friendly wearable, mSafety gives our B2B partners a great basis upon which to develop their own client monitoring applications and services. Built-in sensors in the device monitor values such as heart rate and body temperature to determine the users’ status. In a typical use case, the wearable features seven days of battery life.

Although it is important to point out that mSafety is not a medical device, is does offer obvious benefits to healthcare providers. Data from the wearable can help people with chronic conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease manage their health more effectively, at the same time as keeping those who care for them properly informed.

Other application areas include, for example, monitoring employees in hazardous occupations or water-sports enthusiasts engaged in near-shore activities. The Ireland-based company, 8West Consulting, is currently developing an application based on the mSafety platform for use by at-risk individuals such as solitary workers or kite surfers.

The mSafety purpose-built wearable device has a built-in eSIM that relies on cellular connectivity technologies that uses cellular connectivity technology, LTE Cat-M1. Telenor Connexion provides the global, cellular IoT connectivity management services, using Ericsson’s IoT platform.
